Summer Camp Support – Pontiac  Hispanic Outreach Services - open to all in southeast Michigan!

Location: Pontiac

Time Commitment: Monday through Wednesday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm; and on Thursday's 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Requirements: At least 18 years of age and enjoy working with children. Complete a time commitment form. Pass background check and attend a training session.

Description

A lot of fun! Six-week program with a substance use prevention emphasis. Includes physical activities, arts and crafts, field trips and more. Involves children between eight and 12 years of age.

Foster Grandparents Program  Senior volunteer services

Senior Companion Program – Oakland and Macomb counties  Senior volunteer services

Description

Provide person-to-person support services to other adults in the community with special or exceptional needs to enable them to remain independent. Companionship, assistance with meals, or running errands.

Description

Put your experience to work or learn a new skill by becoming involved in a worthwhile community endeavor! Volunteers choose how and where they serve and the amount of time that they would like to give. This program offers a full range of volunteer opportunities in communities throughout Oakland and Macomb counties to help youth, seniors, veterans, and others at cultural institutions and medical settings.

All Saints Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry – Southwest Detroit  Community Outreach

Description

Is your parish, group, or organization interested in cooking and serving a Soup kitchen meal?

Soup Kitchen: Provide food, prepare, and serve the meal
Need: Three to five cooks and 15-20 dining room helpers
When: Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays – 8:00 am start

Food Pantry: Stock shelves and assist guests with their food needs

Youth Mentoring Program – Pontiac  Hispanic Outreach Services

Location: Pontiac

Time Commitment: From six to 12 months. Four hours-plus per month in direct contact with hours per month of direct contact youth and participation in monthly group activities.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older, enjoy working with children. Attend training sessions. Have an insured automobile and pass a criminal history background check.

Description

This opportunity is about helping Hispanic youth succeed on an individual basis. The Hispanic Outreach Program Mentoring program utilizes one-to-one relationships to encourage and guide at-risk Hispanic youth to make affirming life choices, enabling them to realize their full personal potential, reduce dropout rates, promote academic excellence, discourage gang, criminal, and drug involvement and support positive behaviors.
