Partner Volunteer Opportunities (non CCSEM)
Food Distribution Volunteer (Perry Outreach Center)

General Info

Location: Perry Outreach Center - 12047 Miami St, Detroit, MI 48217

Time Commitment: 4 hours shifts, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 am-2 pm

Requirements: Ability to lift 40 pounds

Description: Volunteers are needed to help sort food, pack emergency food bags, and distribute them to neighbors who come to the Perry Outreach Center for help.

Front Desk Volunteer (Perry Outreach Center)

Time Commitment: 4 hours shifts, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 am-2 pm

Requirements: Ability to lift 25 pounds

Description:  Volunteers needed to greet neighbors as they arrive for services at the Perry Outreach Center. The volunteer will also be asked to answer the phone, take messages, register new clients, record information for record-keeping, and provide general information about Perry Center Services as needed.

Refugee Resettlement Program (CCSEM)
Transportation Volunteers

Requirements: Valid drivers license and dependable automobile

Description

The Refugee Resettlement Program at Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan needs volunteers to help with transportation.

Volunteers are needed to help transport families from Detroit Metro Airport to housing at area hotels upon arrival. Additional transportation assistance is required for medical and legal appointments.

Elementary School Tutors

Mentoring Program

Food Pantry Boxing

Description

Volunteers are needed to help pack emergency food boxes and veggie bags that will be distributed to families and neighbors in Pontiac.

Volunteers can also assist with sorting clothes and organizing the kitchen space.

Location: Auburn Hills

Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, with flexible days/hours. Volunteer time would be during work hours between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Requirements: Dementia experience is desired, but not required. Talent in the areas of music or love for crafts would be a plus.

Catholic Charities Adult Day Service Center is a dementia-specific Adult Day Center serving older adults in the community. Caregivers can drop off their loved ones at our center and feel at ease knowing the person is safe and in a friendly environment. We engage participants in a fun, stimulating activities ranging from music, arts and crafts, trivia, word games, and cards. We are looking for volunteers who desire to help others and love working with seniors. We seek volunteers who are self-starters, energetic, and positive. Volunteers may assist participants in games, crafts, stimulating conversation, or just being a buddy to one who needs extra attention.

The RSVP program in Wayne County is always looking for a few good volunteers. Share your time and talent, or put your experience to work for the community. Driven by the nationwide United States Catholic Conference of Bishops’ Walking with Moms in Need initiative, the Detroit Walking with Moms in Need initiative is a partnership between the Archdiocese of Detroit and Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, which equips and assists Catholic parishes and parishioners in raising awareness about resources that assist pregnant and parenting moms in need. The initiative seeks to make each parish in the Archdiocese a place where moms and their babies are welcomed and supported and where the dignity of every human life is upheld and valued.
