Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan's La Casa Amiga Community Program honors 17 Graduates from the first of four cohorts planned for the Latinos in Finance Program. The first graduation ceremony honoring these 17 students was held on July 1, 2024, at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Headquarters in Farmington Hills, MI!
This first cohort, one of four planned, is made possible by a significant $50,000 grant from UnidosUS. This grant, part of their Workforce Development Latinos in Finance Initiative, will enable the La Casa Amiga Community program to lead and implement a comprehensive local Latinos in Finance program. It will provide essential services to dozens of Hispanic/Latino bilingual individuals in Southeast Michigan, offering them a brighter future.
Each cohort, designed for up to 25 students, offers a comprehensive program. It includes outreach, recruitment, assessment, training, case management, and job placement. This thorough approach ensures economic stability and career advancement within the community by equipping participants with the necessary financial literacy and career skills.
Some of the requirements to participate include:
- Must be 18 or older
- Must be authorized to work in the United States of America
- Must be free of any felony convictions
- Must have a GED or have completed some level of college education either here or in their native country
