About the Adopt-a-Family Program

For over three decades, faithful parishioners and donors throughout the counties served in the Archdiocese of Detroit have generously opened their hearts to the families in our region.  While many families receive gifts of clothing or toys from area parish giving trees, more direct financial assistance can become a great blessing to help purchase food, prescriptions, rent, and utilities. 100 percent of every donation received by the Adopt-a-Family program is distributed back to families and individuals nominated by parishes and partner organizations closely connected with those in their communities that are most in need of assistance.

How are Families Selected or Helped?

CCSEM invites our trusted parishes and partner organizations throughout the Archdiocese of Detroit to choose and nominate families or individuals that they know could use a little extra cheer. We feel that every parish and partner organization has the unique advantage of witnessing who could use some help or support since they are at the front line of serving their congregations, clients, and spiritual families throughout the year. The close connection to their clients and the parishioners allows them to see, hear, and know their stories intimately. The Adopt-a-Family program is a way to thank those frontline servers by enabling them to play Santa! They can recognize and acknowledge relationships with an extraordinary story by providing them with a financial gift to help their pain, need, or hardship.
