Kristy Rivard earned her bachelor’s degree in 1996 in special education from Eastern Michigan University. She worked as a special education teacher at Bedford Public Schools for seven years, and then continued her education at Eastern Michigan University, earning her master’s degree in counseling in 2003. She worked as an interventionist at Monroe Catholic Elementary Schools for four years. Kristy is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer. She enjoys working with children and adolescents, and looks forward to working with adults. Kristy is skilled at helping clients come to a resolution or solution about particular situations, and encourages her clients to share with her their personal problems, concerns, and stories. Kristy’s general goals for her clients are to help them identify issues, develop a plan of action, and implement that plan. She believes counselor and client work together to find the best solution.
