Location: Detroit - Wayne County

Position Type: Part-Time approximately 29 hours per week

Hours/Pay

Rate of Pay: 15.00 - 17.00 per hour

Availability: This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Days/Hours Worked: Monday through Friday, as assigned. Typical hours are between 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.

Experience

Education Requirements: High school diploma/GED required.

Experience Requirements: Bilingual in both English and Spanish is required.

Special Requirements: The ideal candidate for this position must possess fluency in both Spanish and English and be highly organized and competent with technology (Microsoft Windows, word and excel) A successful candidate should be able to coordinate, train and supervise volunteers to run an efficient Soup Kitchen. Having a kind and empathetic nature, as well as a readiness to support and aid families and individuals belonging to a lower income group, is an essential requirement for this role.

Description

We seek a highly organized and compassionate Food Programs Coordinator to oversee our two locations in Detroit (All Saints Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry and the Center for the Works of Mercy). The successful candidate will maintain inventory control, assist with food orders and purchases, and ensure full compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory Health and Safety requirements. In addition, the Food Programs Coordinator will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, churches, community service providers, and volunteer groups. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Responsibilities:

Manage inventory control, including assisting with orders and purchases and ensuring proper food storage and rotation.
Maintain the physical condition of the two locations in full compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulatory Health and Safety requirements.
Review orders and invoices to ensure that CCSEM has received items and is invoiced correctly.
Establish positive relationships with clients, churches, community service providers, and volunteer groups.
Train and supervise volunteers to run an efficient Soup Kitchen.
Coordinate volunteers to ensure that CCSEM can offer hot meals at the Soup Kitchen three days per week.
Be responsible for scheduling, monitoring, and ensuring that volunteers complete their duties and are thanked for their service.
Perform data entry, including keeping track of inventory, orders, volunteer schedules, and client data.
Communicate with the Program Manager, volunteers, and clients as needed.
