Foster Grandparent volunteers are mentors, tutors and role models serving in various community settings for youth with exceptional needs. In addition to giving participants the opportunity to stay active and healthy, the program offers volunteers a non-taxable stipend, mileage reimbursement, meal assistance, and supplemental accident and liability insurance coverage.
The Oakland County program currently has 45 volunteers, and more are needed!
Participants must be age 55 or older, able to serve 20 hours a week, follow program guidelines and meet limited income guidelines.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has renewed a $246,393 grant to fund the Foster Grandparent program through June 30, 2018. This is the primary source of funding for Auburn Hills-based program which operates on a total annual budget of $319,190.
The Foster Grandparent Program is funded by CNCS, the Michigan Aging and Adult Services Agency and financial support from the community.
