Nancy Maxwell

Nancy Maxwell obtained her bachelor of science degree from Central Michigan University in 1998 and her master of social work degree from Wayne State University in May of 2002. She is a licensed social worker in the State of Michigan. Nancy is a clinical therapist with CCSEM where she has been since 2016. Her areas of expertise include: depression, anxiety, and panic disorders, anger management, phobias, eating disorders and behavioral disorders. She specializes in the treatment of children and youth and is working on her certification in both sand and play therapy. Nancy’s work history includes: CHR (substance abuse and mental health counseling), the Professional Counseling Center as a home based therapist, St. Clair County Community Mental Health as a clinician for eight years and one year at Macomb County Community Mental Health with Supports Coordination and outpatient clinical work.

Nancy’s treatment philosophy is to provide a safe and nurturing treatment environment in order to assist children and youth in being able to work through their emotions through play. “Play is a natural treatment modality for children and families to be able to express themselves regarding their stressors and situations they are experiencing.”
