Mentoring and Summer Camp Coordinator

This is a leadership role. Under the supervision of the Prevention Programs Supervisor, is responsible for the coordination, supervision and delivering of age appropriate mentoring services and summer camp activities to high-risk Hispanic Youth. This position requires staff supervision and coordination with community resources. Duties includes student outreach, promotional activities to market the program, staff and volunteer training as well as end-of-program report. This position provides direction and oversight for all aspects of the mentoring and summer camp activities.


Bilingual English and Spanish
Degree in Education, Social Work or related human services relate field
Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with schools and institutions of higher learning.
Conscientious and hard-working attitude; ability to work autonomously at times as well as in a team environment
Effective written communication skills, including skill in proof reading for grammar and spelling
Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software – especially Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Social Media web platforms
Reliable, self-motivated and flexible; able to respond to new opportunities



Recruits young people, between 8 to 17 years old to be mentees.
Recruits, interviews, processes background checks, and train volunteers’ mentors from Oakland University, parishes and professional organizations in the tri-county area.
Communicates in a monthly basis with mentors and parents to monitor the mentor/mentee match.
Assists with the planning and implementation of all program activities for after school mentees.
Schedules with mentors and mentees a 6 months calendar of events and activities.
Submits monthly reports.
Summer Camp:

Designs the activities and events for the Summer Camp Program.
Invites instructors and speakers from non-profit organizations to talk, teach or perform activities with the children.
Organizes and coordinate weekly field trips in the area.
Coordinates with All Saints Episcopal Church to reserve a space for this program.
Coordinates to provide free lunch for the campers via Meet Up and Eat Up Summer Program.
Recruits children and youth to participate in the Summer Camp Program.
Recruit, train, and supervise summer camp assistants and volunteers.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Prevention Programs Supervisor and Director of La Casa Amiga.
