Availability: Most hours are Monday - Friday as assigned. Some evenings required.

Days/Hours Worked: This is a part-time 25 hours per week , non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, as assigned. This is a year-round position, eligible for paid time off (PTO). This position requires some evenings

Experience

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related human services field

Experience Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with people of varying economic and cultural backgrounds. Effective written communication skills, including skill in proof reading for grammar and spelling. Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software – especially Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Social Media web platforms; good record keeping abilities. Reliable, self-motivated and flexible; able to respond to new opportunities.

Description

Under the direction of the Director of La Casa Amiga Community Programs, the Income Support Specialist provides case management support to individuals and families who are eligible for Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) benefits. This position is responsible for focusing on the health and welfare of families to positively represent the agency as an effective, caring and professional collaborative partner. This position must be able to multi-task between a variety of case management needs to serve families with dignity and respect.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Fully Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related human services field
• Ability to work well with people of varying economic and cultural background
• Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with people of varying economic and cultural backgrounds.
• Conscientious and hard-working attitude; ability to work autonomously at times as well as in a team environment
• Effective written communication skills, including skill in proof reading for grammar and spelling
• Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software – especially Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and Social Media web platforms; good record keeping abilities.
