Dr. Miguel Lis-Planells is a recognized leader-expert in neurological surgery and a pioneer in the area of minimally invasive spine surgery.
He currently lives in Florida, is affiliated with several hospitals, and practices at the Bonati Spine Institute. Prior to relocating from Michigan, he served as a partner in the Michigan Head and Spine Institute, and was vice chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit.
Dr. Miguel’s commitment to the Church is reflected in his work and affiliation with several Catholic organizations, including as a Knight of the Order of Malta and Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. He has served and serves on several boards, including the President’s Council at Ave Maria University, board of directors of The Men of the Sacred Hearts, and on the board of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums. He is also a member of Legatus.
Dr. Lis-Planells was a member of the Catholic Social Services of Oakland County board at the time of the merger with Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan (CCSEM). He later worked in the Oakland County advisory board to CCSEM to facilitate a smooth transition during the merger.
